  What's with this "no windows in kingdom halls" thing?

  i hear many people on this forum say that kh's don't have windows.

  but i have never been to one that didn't have windows.

  is this only in a certain area or something?.

  Old halls did not have windows for security and so you dont see the late comers going in during the song. People stare even during the prayer.

  the desert areas of central australia, the so-called 'red heart' of the nation, still has a significant population of original australians.

  and many of them seem to have difficulty with the law.*.

  that's a very brief and simplistic introduction to this video of prison guards in the alice springs jail, manhandling a young boy.

  Fully agree "James Brown." I work in the mental health field and this was text book perfect what they did. Remove anything that can cause harm is standard. The kid was clearly unstable. Reasonable amount of force used. 10/10 perfect job! The kid is on drugs or mentally not well. I would have removed the matress he tore up but otherwise great job guys.

  Witnesses believe these hungry folks can eat to their fill in Paradise so "feed a man bread for a day and he will still be hungry tommorow...give him a bible study and he will live forever in Paradise."....even if he starves to death.

  Isnt the media attention especially TV way over the top ? in covering the seige in sydney or is it all about ratings .Entertainment ?

  dont get me wrong , what took place was appalling and certainly needed to be covered by the media , whether by radio tv or newspaper articles by journalists.

  this was one lone man holding seventeen hostages for about 17 hours , traumatic ,frightening to say the least for the victims who were put through this ordeal , and sadly their were fatalities of hostages .

  my heart goes out to those who suffered and endured this seige and especially those who lost loved ones .. my concern is mainly with the tv coverage , newspapers you get usually only once a day , and in a case like this maybe twice.. here in victoria , we have 4 ?

  I tjink people like me want to know whats happening there is not much big news in Australia except footy! I think the terrorist was denied the coverage he wanted and was not allowed to speak to the prime minister.....I remember Waco they allowed Koresh to go on TV and radio with his garbage which is not a good move.

  my husband just won the city wide holiday light display for christmas i am so proud .

  just a few short years ago i was the one that put a strand of white lights around the porch railing ,and a couple of lighted deer in the yard ....that brought the elders around real quick (after three years of silence ) at that time my husband was still holding onto the notion his faith was not bond to a cult .

  it didn't take long after the 'loving sheparding call' for him to see things in another light.

  I don't know why...but this is what has been happening in my ex-jw world...

  so i took up volunterring for habitat for humanity in one of their restores about a year and a half/two years ago.

  now as far as i've known growing up in the religion, this is a faith-based organization that jehovah's witnesses are not to support.

  so i am wirded ou in some ways of what has happened during this time.. my first event was a previous elder from a congregation 3 hours away from where i live now, coming into the store.

  We always bump into Witnesses in our store...our former Elder buys his groceries next door and never pops in to say hi...we are only inactive...so much for the lost sheep.

  Looks like this will continue all night as well...no sleep for any of these poor folks and this will make the terrorist more resistant due to lack of sleep.
